Cardigans

One of the things my husband remembers about me when he had a crush on me as a teen was my cardigans. I was always wearing one – given that summer in the UK can be a bit hit and miss, I pretty much had one with me 24-seven, 365 days a year.

Well the crush continues – I’m still addicted to cardigans. And there are a lot of lovely ones around just now. More than I have time to knit! Knitty’s ‘First Fall’ edition is just out, and I immediately homed in on this gorgeous, timeless cardigan by Ami Herzog, Jackaroo. I love the pockets, I love the shape, I even love the colour (yes, I own several brown cardigans and am wearing them to death).

And have you seen this one?

Fieldwork Cardigan by Nadya Stallings

I was really excited (yes I admit it, even if it sounds nuts) to find that I had just enough of my hand-dyed cashmere/merino blend sock wool to make this. It’s in the summer issue of Pom Pom Quarterly (another recent crush – love that magazine).

I can see it now…the trouble is, finding the time for all this knitting. I have a day job and two children…

I also have trouble staying faithful.

To one project at a time, that is.

I already have these two on the go:

Gudrun Johnston’s Levenwick

(I know Paper Dolls isn’t a cardigan but it’s a large woolly project that would compete with further cardigans I might get tempted to cast on)

I suppose I really ought to finish those first…

What are your favourite cardigan patterns?

And have you made any of the designs above?
